Actress/producer Karyn Parsons accepts a Certificate of Appreciation signed by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Councilman Bernard C. Parks, which was presented by Veronica Hendrix (right) of the Los Angeles City Commission on the Status of Women. Parsons and her company, Sweet Blackberry, were honored during a recent celebration of the release of the animated children's DVD, The Journey of Henry Box Brown. Written and produced by Parsons and narrated by actress Alfre Woodard, the DVD tells the true story of a slave who mailed himself in a box to freedom in 1848.
